Colombia is working on technological solutions for tourism

The technology is part of all scenarios in which the human being develops and became the source of development for the world. Therefore, the tourism sector not far behind. In Colombia, the Government has sought to strengthen the development of technological solutions and applications aimed at solving needs that have to do with the national tourism sector.

This week during the National Congress of Hospitality Cotelco, event held from 29 to 30 September in Valle del Cauca, a group of Colombian entrepreneurs will present some of their technological developments to boost tourism in the country.

Some of the solutions that will be presented as part of Congress were developed under the initiative of 'ICT and Tourism' the Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications and Colciencias. Technological solutions are presented to boost tourism. 

Recently these government entities spend more than 4,300 million pesos to co-finance 12 projects of national innovation aimed at strengthening the tourism sector.

The tourism sector is part of the Millennium Development Goals, represents 30% of exports of services worldwide and 10% of world GDP. In addition, it is one of the major players in international trade and one of the main sources of income for many developing countries.

Thus, Cotelco Expo is another opportunity with IT companies and digital content to reach new markets and establish contact with other foreign companies. Also to make visible the potential of Colombia in terms of 'ICT and Tourism', which seeks to offer the world.

Colombia has a broad development potential in the tourism sector, which is leveraging from application development and technology services to show the different destinations that the country has to offer to visitors from all over the world. As part of the promotion of tourism through technology, the national government issued $4.300 million to co-finance 12 projects aimed at strengthening innovation in the tourism sector. Colombia seeks to strengthen innovative projects in IT applied to tourism

This initiative, which has benefited 10 departments in the country, promotes specialization of products and services of the IT industry in this sector, specifically to strengthen and promote activities and innovative projects in IT applied to tourism.
